First class was agility for both dogs - Pip first in nursery. A nice course but it had a couple of awkward bits. Started well after breaking first wait, held 2nd and started him. Made sure he saw and entered the DW and then ran to the end - he slowed and although didnt stop and TOUCH he did hesitate and slow in the area and didnt jump off - so sent him on to jump tunnel - no problem. then jump to A frame, and I ran on before he commtted to AF so he ran past it. then went straight over and again got the contact although again didnt nose touch. Sharp right turn to upright, then long distance to spread with rear cross to an upright back in opposite direction. This was our undoing. He got the spread but went very wide, and then took the upright but was very wide and missed the next upright. Tried to bring him back round but he back jumped for an E. Took the offending jump, tunnel then 3 jumps on a right hand turn back into the same tunnel and 4 jumps to the end. left all jumps up and went clear after the E.
Was VERY pleased that we. 1) got all the contacts and didnt jump off, 2) got the DW entryand 3) jumped very well. 4) waited and basically went where I put him.
Bonnie was next - course was same to Aframe, and she was going well. Then front cross to seesaw then long jump jump and weaves back in other direction. missed the weave entry, then VERY wobbly through the weaves, but continued strong to tunnel and a similar finish. Was very pleased with her as she was really enjoying herself. I think probably 10 points.
Pip next up in jumping. this was the bottom ring and surrounded with people and dogs - but again he couldnt be distracted from the equipment and me. waited brilliantly and I went to fence 2 started him and he came on well. flat tunnel I think disorientated him a bit and he came out to the right and then missed the upright and took the tunnel instead. so E. started again and got the tunnel, pull off the obvious jump, jump, jump towards judge (dressed in silver as a wizzard with HUGE wizzards hat and hair ) gave him a stare then turned back to me did the two jumpsand then missed jump 4 again before the tunnel. This time I was a little out of position to push him out to it, then tunnel and jump to a right hand turn and a row of jumps to the end going on well ahead of me.
Bonnie next - similar course but with a twiddly bit in it. All went well until the same dog leg to judge and back - unlike Pip she didnt just stare she went up and sniffed his crotch! Then carried on, but went sniffing in the corner before the final run of jumps. came back but I was so out of position I couldnt get round to push her out and we missed a jump for an E. Very pleased though that she ran fine and wasnt bothered by the other dogs around the ring at all.
Steeplechase finally - Pip first again. This was quite a tricky little course really. Started well with a good wait and went to fence 3. Sadly he just messed up the stride pattern and took the pole at 3, into tunnel, pull off fence to turn right to upright and then tunnel. This bit I chose to keep him on my left up the tunnel and go for a rear cross on 7 after the tunnel. With hindsight I think I could have sent him into the tunnel then crossed between the upright and the tunnel to be on the other side and still got him over the fence - that would have made the turn to 7 easier. Anyway as it was he came out of tunnel and did go left as I asked but then came back to me for 5. So then started again and went clear over 3 jumps, a tunnel jump tunnel 2 jumps towards the finish - pull off a fence,and turn back to tunnel, pull of a fence and turn back to 3 jumps to the end - just missed final fence as I just couldnt get there in time for a final 5. All that in 23 sec though! 15 faults and our first non E. Smashing jumping from the little man - he was flying!
Bonnie next - same course. She went really well and I rear crossed the tunnel this time which worked well for her, and she was clear right to the bit where you call off the final jump and turn for the tunnel - she saw Ruth on the timing and went off to say hello! So we got a 5, then came back and finished the course perfectly. 5 faults in ... 40 secs. So nearly twice the time it took Pip, and he could have been a lot quicker without the mistakes. I guess Pip could have done that course in about 18-19 secs is we hadnt had the two problems.
SO pleased with both of my dogs, they were just so happy and tried their hearts out.
Edited to add - Pip was 4th out of 11 in the SC - he had 15 in 23.06, winner was clear in 22.07. 2nd had 5 in 25.60 and 3rd had 5 in 42.7. SO definately possible that he could have won that.
He was 7/13 in agility (although e'd) - 6 secs behind winner on 35.13 which given we wasted SO much time was great
and 8/12 in jumping (although E-'d) - 8 secs behind winner on 26.89 again - brilliantly considering we did half the course twice :)
Bonnie was 15/24 in Agility , with 10 in 59.26.
21/26 in jumping (though E'd ) in 47.5,
13/25 in SC with CR (?? generous!) in 40.30 SC was same course as Pip and she took almost twice the time he did with 15 faults lol
