Pip and holidays

Well he was a pretty good boy all told. We had a few OMG barky moments but in totally predictable ways. (Horses suddenly ridden onto a totally deserted beach, kayak's with legs walking down the beach) a couple of less acceptable ones - people coming down slopes (this is an old hate of his from Bristol when he took great exception to people coming over the bank and not through the gate), but other than that he was fantastic. He was responsive and attentive to us, lovely with all the dogs he met, a polite greeting or ignoring was usual, a few merited a good old game though.

I have noticed that the OMG barking is sometimes cos he is bored... for instance if we stop to look at something, and sometimes cos he is scared (in the latter case he hides behind me and barks), so the former are not being tolerated (a sharp excuse me? and he stops) the latter we work on looking and rewarding, and moving away, which is working.

So no training on hols bar a couple of touch sessions on the stairs, but these weren't very successful as the stairs were very steep. So Sunday we did a little bit of jumping, he was fab on left hand but wouldnt jump full height or do more than 1 jump without jumping on me on right arm. So took him right back to basics on right, lowered jumps, made it simpler, and he was happy. Yesterday started low and then put them up randomly and he jumped most - he doesnt see them if he starts too close. This morning he was fab and jumped full hright on right arm and left perfectly.

Also Mon did some contact end work Really focussing on the touch and looking forward. It went ok but I still wanted more drive - but this morning he came out really driving to it so he did learn :) Then we started looking at weaves - just the first 2 a few times from each side - he got that in seconds, and this morning remembered it, so angled them slightly and worked the arc. Just 5 mins but very good boy :)
